Roger Toothaker was born 1634 in England. He married Mary Allin, at Billerica on June 9, 1655. Toothaker was a physician, although possibly more of a self taught herbalist by today's standards. Little is known about his examination, other than the fact that Toothaker managed to drag Martha Carrier, his sister-in-law, into the trials, in which she was condemned by Roger's testimony, and that of Allin, his son. It is believed that Toothaker was accused of witchcraft, after boasting that his adult daughter had killed a witch by collecting some of the afflicted's urine in a pot and baking it overnight. The girls may have taken this as a personal affront and challenge.Roger Toothaker died in Salem Prison, June 16, 1692.
